Après plusieurs mois d’ajustement de dosage d’insuline et un changement de nourriture, le diabète de mon chien n’était toujours pas contrôlé. Pire, il faisait maintenant des crises d’hypoglycémie et un matin, alors que son taux de sucre sanguin était très bas, il a fait des convulsions. Ce jour-là, j’ai vraiment cru qu’il allait mourir! Au début de l’année 2008, j’ai découvert qu’il était possible de nourrir son chien de façon plus naturelle et au fil de mes lectures, j’ai appris que l’alimentation actuelle de mon chien ne répondait peut-être pas à ses besoins de chien diabétique. Quelques mois plus tard, encore une fois découragée par les résultats des tests sanguins, mais toujours convaincue que mon chien avait encore de belles années à vivre, j’ai contacté Caroline des Aliments Alternatif 2000. Je lui ai expliqué la situation de mon chien et je lui ai fait part de toutes mes inquiétudes. Elle a pris le temps de bien m’expliquer en quoi consistait l’alimentation naturelle, quels en étaient ses bienfaits sur la santé de l’animal et elle m’a informé que plusieurs personnes se tournaient vers ce type d’alimentation, car ils avaient eux aussi un chien malade. La fin de semaine suivante, je me rendais directement sur place afin de rencontrer Caroline et d’acheter mes premiers sacs de boulettes karnivor. Après un mois, le diabète de mon chien était stable et ses besoins en insuline commençaient a diminué. Près d’un an plus tard, le diabète de mon chien est stable et sa dose quotidienne d’insuline a diminué de moitié. Il est maintenant âgé de 12 ans et il est débordant d’énergie, malgré sa maladie! De plus, il a retrouvé un poids santé, son poil est doux et lustré et il joue et court comme un jeune chien! After this incident we received numerous opinions on how to nourish Great Danes. Everything from serving several meals per day to taking long rests after mealtime. Believing that we had not taken proper care of my faithful companion we decided to get another Great Dane and this time to heed the advice we had been given. This is when JO-FY a magnificent male came into our lives. Alas, once again health problems started early. He aged very quickly and at 4 years he died of bone cancer. Following this unfortunate event I took it upon myself to seriously research how to nourish dogs. I was stunned by what I learned from a book written on feeding dogs by an Australian veterinarian. He recommended a diet based on their carnivorous past. That is when I decided to nourish my dogs with a raw meat based diet. It was at the same time I discovered the Karnivor products and listened to their advice. 
My next Dane is a male named Herzen who has benefited from the raw meat diet. He is exceptional, has a beautiful coat, youthful and at the age of 8 gives our 2 year old female dog (Charlotte) a hard time. Charlotte was always on the Karnivor diet, and according to our veterinarian both dogs are in excellent health. I am convinced the raw meat based diet makes the difference in the health of my two four legged friends. She helped us with the transition to her foods. Zucchini is well beyond her 14 years. Except for the onset of deafness she is in fine form. She goes on hikes, is playful, has a nice coat and good breath. Everyone thinks we brush our dogs on a regular basis. Nothing is further from the truth we never brush our dogs. Tofu, Soleil and Sauge are also in great shape. The winning combination is they never need a vet, get a lot of love, have a good diet, and are given the occasional medicinal plant. At the age of 5 our cat Loulette lost her energy to the point of not even being able to jump up on a chair. Our vet saw no health issues and was unable to come up with a diagnosis. I then suspected her dry food could be the culprit. Question: In addition to water, can she have some other nourishment on the day she fasts? Example a carrot. Can carrots be given as a treat? I can’t believe the new diet worked so well, so quickly. Unfortunately some vets don’t believe in this type of diet. Just like some of our doctors who refuse to consider alternative treatments. A million thanks for saving my dog’s life. Myriam Bélanger |

Au printemps 2006, alors que nous venions d’emménager dans notre nouvelle maison, j’ai remarqué chez mon chien âgé de neuf ans, des changements importants. À mon retour du travail, il ne venait plus accueillir gaiement comme à son habitude et je remarquais qu’à chaquejour depuis près d’une semaine, il buvait une grande quantité d’eau et il ne pouvait plus se retenir. En raison de son âge, j’ai d’abord cru en des problèmes d’incontinence et j’ai contacté mon vétérinaire. Suite à un test sanguin et une analyse d’urine, j’ai appris que mon chien était diabétique et que pour lui redonner une vie normale, je devrais lui faire des injections d’insuline deux fois par jour, en plus de porter une attention particulière à son alimentation.
I began my love affair with Great Danes more than 15 years ago. At that time I purchased a beautiful black female who I named Sigmund. She was my constant companion until one night at the age of 4 she died suddenly from a gastric problem which had caused her severe pain.
Molie no longer scratches, smells nicer, her ears stay cleaner longer and she is in great shape….!!!! For the last week she is nourished solely on horsemeat without cereals .That is 2.5 patties per day and she will fast one day per week.
